Did you know quinoa can help relieve migraines? Quinoa is a grain-like crop that has high protein content this complete protein is also gluten-free. It is rich in magnesium, a mineral that helps relax the constricted blood vessels believed to cause migraines. Quinoa has a bitter coating, so rinse it well before cooking.

Black rice may soothe inflammation associated with allergies and asthma! Did you know that black rice is considered a “super food”: http://www.blackrice.com/benefits/ . For a healthier dessert, why not try substituting black rice for white in rice pudding.

Amaranth grain contains high amounts of lysine (an amino acid that has been shown to help women absorb calcium more efficiently). This gluten-free, high quality protein grain dates back hundreds of years to the Aztecs in Mexico. Go figure…It can be used as an alternative to popcorn. Just put a few tablespoons in a saucepan, cover and shake pan over medium heat – no oil needed!
