A couple of people have asked me what I take as a daily vitamin supplement and simply, I am still taking my prenatal vitamins - Vitafol-OB. My little one turned 3 years old this past Sunday so I have some experience with this supplement. I ended use of the supplement, after I was finished breastfeeding and as of last month I’m back on this supplement, but without the DHA which helps in the eye and brain development of a fetus. I don’t need the DHA because I am not pregnant. When I was pregnant I was on Vitafol-OB+DHA.
I have read that this pill doesn’t really measure up when it comes to prenatal vitamins (meaning it’s not the best supplement you could take if you were pregnant - which I am sadly learning now), but since I’m not pregnant it’s OK for me to take on a daily basis. My insurance company pays for me to have this medication and I am happy about that…it’s cheaper than going over the counter.
Vitafol-OB contains… Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Folic Acid, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Niacin, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium and Copper. This daily supplement doesn’t contain any toxins which is good for mom and it also protects baby. I am an Anemic so the iron in this supplement helps me out and I also do not eat read meat so there is a good amount (could be better) of Vitamin B’s in this supplement as well.
