Atelectasis implies incomplete lung expansion.  There are many causes for this, from something as simple as not taking a deep breath, to something as deadly as a cancer blocking part of the lung.

Hyperinflated lungs are the opposite or rather over-inflated.  Again, there are many reasons for this, ranging from just taking a really truly deep breath to asthma or emphysema to cancer.

Best to chat w/your family physician or whoever ordered the xray and find out what s/he recommends as your next step.
