What could cause shooting pains from knee to top of foot and to hip?

i have had a sore knee for about 3 weeks after I spent some time kneeling on it.  I just turned and had a shooting pain when I turned.  I now have shooting pains from my knee down my shin to the top of my foot and up the leg to my hip.
