In the first type the hair loss is due to psychological stress due to illness, financial problems or work related tensions. The stress may also be due to death in the family, divorce, or change in the environment. In this type the growth of hair stops for 2-3 months and then starts falling. The hairs grow again after 8 to 9 months. In Alopecia areata there is an immune response by the body against the hair follicles and the hair loss is due to the damaged hair follicles.
