What can I do to alleviate my Irritable Bowel syndrome

I am 32 years old. I suffer from Hypothyroidism. I am on Eltroxin 100mg for the same. IBS has been a problem since the last 11 years or so. Additional problems include, bloating, Gas, Incomplete evacuation, Metallic taste of mouth and pain in the lower abdomen(Occasionally, not always).

I am Indian. my diet is mostly vegetarian with rice or wheat bread.

First, I would recommend having yourself tested for any food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities. For example, it's possible you are gluten- or lactose-intolerant as both conditions present symptoms similar to those you describe. Second, I would keep track of your IBS attacks to see if stress may play a factor or at least be exacerbating your symptoms. If so, perhaps some stress management techniques would be helpful. Third, I would investigate whether the medication you mentioned or any other you're taking may be irritating your intestinal tract. If so, talk to your doctor or pharmacist to see if there's an alternative drug you can take.
