What’s Holding Me Back?

Posted Aug 18 2011 8:25am

A common thought about why people are not living the lives they want is because something is holding them back.  This theme comes up in a lot of blogs, books, newsletters etc. that I read.

Instead of reading this question, id like to answer it honestly for you (and me).

What’s Holding Me Back?

From my ideal body . . .

Lack of focus on meal planning and .

Finding exercise that I will enjoy doing naturally as a hobby, not because I HAVE to. Something that I wont get bored of or despise in two weeks only to beat myself up for and feel worse.

From Having Fun . . .

Spending most of my downtime working on things that I’m not sure will ever serve me.

Thinking that if I DON’T spend my down time working on things for my future then ill never win or even catch up in this race that only exists in my mind.

From My Personal Relationships . . .

Not always being myself around everyone 100%.  Though this has made a dramatic improvement in just one year, its still feels wrong to hold back.

Not putting much effort into spending quality time with those I care about. I have gotten so caught up in the business of life that it has gotten to the point where it is much easier to let it go and use the excuse than not.

From My Future . . .

I compare myself to others who seem to have so much more talent than me.  I feel defeated.

I’ll also sometimes compare my numbers to everyone else’s numbers of friends, followers, emails, comment, scores, traffic and whatever other bullshit social media meter there is out there.

Can’t I be ecstatic for what I already have?

I feel like I wont make enough money to pay my student loan back.

More often than not, I don’t think I’m good enough to achieve what I want to achieve.

Oh, and I’m also not sure what exactly it is I want to achieve anymore.  It changes so often, it scares me.

Then there is fear, always fear .

Sucks to feel . . .

Freeing to admit . . .

What’s holding YOU back?
