Weeknight run and an early birthday present

Posted Apr 28 2009 12:16pm
So last week I didn't do a lot in the way of running. Since all of the training clinics at the store are well into their hill training, I haven't been heading down there lately. Hills are just too much for me right now. Just getting up onto the curb sometimes seems like hill enough!

Thursday night I headed out with a friend and we planned to run about 3-5 km. I think in the end we ended up running just over 4 km so it was a nice distance, but boy was I dragging my feet! Since when did level ground start feeling so tough!? Despite not being anything exciting, I did figure out that luckily I can still get away in my regular running skirt. Runningskirts.com does sell maternity sizes, but my regular size one seems to be comfortable still...
My friend and husband couldn't believe how much my belly sticks out over top of it, but despite that they gave me the go-ahead to wear it out in public.
On Sunday I decided not run as well since I seem to have slightly pulled a muscle in my groin/thigh and I didn't want to aggravate it. Almost a week later it's feeling fine, but I'm glad I didn't push it on the weekend. Instead my husband and I went swimming, which was a nice treat since I haven't been to the pool in awhile. Luckily I can still get away in my pre-pregnancy bathing suit as well!
Last night the family came over for dinner and they decided to give me my birthday present a few weeks early. Turns out they have booked us for a 4D ultrasound at UC Baby here in Walnut Grove. It's going to be so neat because we'll be able to see what he really looks like in there. I can't believe how life-like the images are. Anyhow, it will be such a nice treat since we hadn't really even considered having a 4D ultrasound because of the cost. I can't believe they thought to do this for us, what a perfect gift.
Don't know what this week will hold running-wise. Our weather finally seems to have turned to spring, so I'd like to get out as much as I can. I think tonight we'll hit the pool but maybe tomorrow night I'll head out for a run. Me thinks running could start to get even tougher here soon, so I'd like to keep at while I still can!
