Weekend Recap...The Maid of the Mist and my first journey across the border!

Posted Sep 02 2013 8:25pm

Over Labor Day weekend Ryan and I headed up to Buffalo, NY his hometown for a family friend's wedding and we snuck in a day trip to the falls and Niagara on the Lake!  I have been to Buffalo 3 times before but it always is at Christmas time and way too cold to visit the falls, so  when the opportunity was offered for a day trip I jumped.  It really is spectacular, yes it's super touristy and the town is super tacky but the falls remain breathtaking.  We rode the Maid of the Mist and covered up as best we could with the ponchos...WOW that water is powerful.  It was so much fun!  If you have a chance to go, GO.  After seeing the falls we drove up to Niagara on the Lake.  I had never heard much about the area and immediately fell in love with this sweet little town.  It sits right on Lake Erie and is one of the nicest kept towns.  The streets are lined with big, beautiful trees and an over pouring of flowers on every balcony.  Every other shop is a ice cream, fudge or candy shop (my kind of place).  After spending the afternoon touring my in-laws took us to a winery for dinner.  Who knew right across the border had so much to offer?  It was a wonderful day with wonderful people:-)

On Saturday morning I woke up for my long run of the week and since I was in an unfamiliar place Ryan insisted he rode on a bike alongside me.  I have to say it was one of my favorite runs.  We got to spend 2+ hours together with no interruptions!  He was also pretty entertaining, for the last mile he insisted on singing Rocky and riding right by my side.  I have a good one;-)

Workout plan for the WeekMonday: 5 mile run
