Happy Monday!

Since I write for Scoop Charlotte , they generously gave me tickets to the Southern Women’s Show which occurred this past weekend.  I was excited and grateful to get the tickets, but it wasn’t until they arrived in the mail that I realized just how amazing the event would be.

The tickets had Jessica Robertson’s image on them, and if you’re a Duck Dynasty fan, you know that Jessica is the wife of Jep Robertson.

Originally, my dear friend and fellow Duck Dynasty lover Lindsay was supposed to attend with me, but she had a little stroke of bad luck yesterday morning and wasn’t able to go.

Despite the fact that going to the show would put him on major estrogen overload, MT said that he’d be my date.  Normally, I would have let him off the hook, but I really didn’t want to miss the event.

There was a football game going on at the exact same time as the show, so getting into town was a bit of a challenge.  And of course, all of the parking garages were charging $20 or more and were only accepting cash.

Luckily, we found one that only charged $10, and I managed to find $9 in my wallet and enough nickels and dimes to make up the other dollar.

I don’t think the parking attendant appreciated the fistful of change, but hey, I was desperate.

It was kind of a cluster getting to the arena from there, but the important thing is that we made it!

Jessica took the stage at around 1:15 pm, and I was shocked that she was so tiny in person. She looks really tall on the show!

She answered questions from the audience for about 30 minutes and was very sweet and personable.

Here were some of the highlights…

Even though they have obviously made a lot of money from Duck Dynasty, Jessica, Jep, and their children live in the same house that they had before the show.
  • Jessica and Jep met and married within the same year, and her wedding dress came from Dilliard’s department store.
    • Her mother-in-law Kay is very open about the fact that Jessica is her favorite daughter-in-law.
(I’m guessing that I am also my mother-in-law’s favorite, but that’s what happens when you’re also the only daughter-in-law.)

They like to keep their children grounded and refuse to buy their 9 year old a cell phone.  (Love that!)
Jessica said that Si is one of the top three nicest people that she’s ever known.
She also said that Godwin and Martin are like brothers to her.
They really do have family dinners like you see on the show, and they usually happen once a week.
She drinks unsweet tea and not sweet tea.  (How did you ever live without knowing that fact, right?)

After the Q&A session, Jessica signed autographs.  The line was really really really long though, and Michael’s diaper had soaked through his clothing.  MT was more than willing to wait on the line with me, but I told him that I was just going to walk up to her table and try to get a picture.

Even though she was in the middle of signing autographs, she saw me standing there and gave me a wave and a smile!

I am pretty sure that I froze like an idiot, but hopefully, I smiled back.

    Isn’t she gorgeous?

It might not have been the most exciting celebrity encounter in the world, but I had a lot of fun.  And I think that I might love the show even more now!

Have you ever had a celebrity sighting?

    1. We love Duck Dynasty! I think that’s pretty cool (and love all those tidbits of info!)

      Have a WONDERFUL week! :)

    3. No celebrity encounters for me unless you count hugging Mark Slaughter from the hair band Slaughter back in the day. I liked him growing up, so being able to hug him even when they were out of their prime was still cool to me.

Um, I think that MORE than counts! How cool!

    4. How fun … and the fact that she stopped and waved for your to take a photo is awesome!
That’s a celebrity that hasn’t let success go to her head! Cheers to her :)
