With sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s, the weather here in Charlotte was just gorgeous which made for a really beautiful weekend.
On Saturday evening, MT, Michael, and I all went to my friend Kirsten’s house for a visit and to catch up with some other friends who were in town. It was so wonderful to see everyone and to engage in some adult conversation…not that baby talk and cooing aren’t fun of course.
After we left Kirsten’s place, MT and I went to Village Tavern for a dinner date (plus some added company in the form of a month-old baby).
MT ordered wings and a blue cheese wedge, and I had ahi tuna, my favorite thing to order off their menu.
I’ve been really into Riesling lately, so I had a glass to go along with my dinner.
The baby was awake for the entire meal but just sat in his seat and chilled. The only reason his eyes are closed in this photo is because I accidentally blinded the poor fella with the flash on my camera.
I was actually pretty surprised that our date night was so successful. I just assumed that our next date would be about 18 years from now.
OK, so that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I truly was shocked that a date with a pint-sized chaperone could be such fun.
Who am I kidding though? I’m still not emotionally prepared to go out without Michael at this point anyway.
If you’re a mother, when was your first date night without your little one(s)? Was it difficult for you to leave them? I suppose that it’s good that I want to be around my son, but I’m sure that I’ll be ready for some hubby alone time eventually!
OMG – What a weekend I had! Craziness indeed! It has rained here for about 4 days and finally the sun came out yesterday afternoon. We lost 3 sections of fence, had a moat around the house and water in our crawlspace. Then to top off a nice date night at home Saturday evening we had an intruder trying to break into our house at 10:30 pm. Then the power was out for about 4 hours yesterday. Your weekend sounds calm and relaxing even with a tiny chaperone. Happy Monday:)
