As of Saturday morning, I wasn’t even sure if I’d do a weekend recap because I had a feeling that it would be pretty uneventful.
But a few hours later, my weekend became very eventful.
After taking a walk with my mom and joining her for lunch, I was driving back home with Michael when we came to a three-way stop.
I was in the middle of making a left turn when a truck came flying down the road in the direction that I was turning. The driver completely blew his stop sign and slammed right into my side of the car. He pushed my car in the the opposite direction and dragged it alongside his truck for a bit before my car stopped.
In all honesty, I do not remember a lot of details. It all seems like such a blur.
I do remember that a whole bunch of strangers came running to my car immediately to make sure that I was alright, and I told them that Michael was in the back seat on the passenger’s side. They all ran to check on him, and wouldn’t you know? My little boy slept through the entire accident!
I was so concerned about my sweet baby that it wasn’t until about 20 minutes later that I realized I had hit my head on the window. In fact, I already had a pretty large bump to show for it.
I did go to the hospital later in the day after feeling a bit dizzy and nauseous, and it turns out that I have my second concussion in 4 months. One more incident and I’m pretty sure that MT is going to make me wear a helmet every day.
I won’t bore you with any more of the details, but I do want to say that I feel so incredibly blessed and fortunate. The accident had the potential to be a whole lot worse.
I’ve definitely been giving both Michael and MT extra hugs these past few days.
We picked up my rental car this morning, and I felt a bit nervous behind the wheel. But give me a little Lionel Richie on the radio, and I’m sure that I’ll be feeling like my normal self again soon.
What did you do over the weekend? Have you ever been in a car accident?Have a great day!
Oh No Sweetie – glad you guys are safe – not great on another concussion – take it easy! Did the truck that hit you stop??? Amazing what can happen in a blink of an eye! Hope you feel better soon and gain your confidence behind the wheel again.
Thanks, Renee. The truck did stop after he hit me, but believe it or not, the driver never came over to apologize. He just stood there smoking a cigarette. As for driving, I figured that I can practice driving a little bit each day. That first drive was definitely scary though. I probably looked like a little 98 year old woman!
Oh no! So happy to hear that you and your baby are ok! Thank goodness. I have been in a fender bender, but I have witnessed a bad accident once, that I will never forget. Take care of yourself and hope your headaches go away!
