Heeellloo! How are you this lazy Sunday morning? I am sitting on the couch with my puppies and enjoying coffee like I have been all week.

1. Apples – So Friday we went apple picking! This is one of my favorite things about Upstate NY.

Hard cider tasting – Yum! I got a bottle of the French to bring back for Bryan. Tastes like Champagne.

Y’all, the 3 of us picked 50 lbs of apple! 25 of them are just mine. Where am I going to put 25 lbs of apples in NYC? I will find a way. bb and our roommate are going to have a heart attack. I will make it work boys – don’t you worry.

2. Jo-li-me – We come here at least once every time I visit. It is a cafe like Panera, but everything is fresh from the local Hafner farm. It is so good. You can taste the freshness in everything.

I was in a tomato basil mood, so I ordered this fabulous chunky (dairy-free) tomato basil soup and half a tomato mozzerella and basil panini. This was the best tomato soup I’ve ever had!

3. Meet Up - We had a Blogger Fondue Party in Ithaca!

Left to Right: Julie , Liz , Jen , Lauren , and me

I lived in Syracuse for 10 years and this was my first visit to Ithaca. It was so beautiful. We had a great lunch at Ithaca Bakery . I went crazy at the salad bar.

This big box is baby spinach topped with raw veggies – sprouts, peppers, snow peas, tomatoes, and marinated mushrooms. And a couple warm dishes – roasted carrots and broccoli, butternut squash puree, and vegan brown rice salad. It was a great salad bar. I grabbed some rosemary salt bagels to take home. We hit up a library book sale and wondered around some shops in the common. Then it was finally fondue time!

We all watched Julie work her magic with cheese and beer. And max did some tricks.

Liz’s Veggies and my homemade pretzel bites! I was really pumped about these. This was my first time playing with yeast, and I think it was a success. I used this recipe from Two Peas and Their Pod . I cut the recipe in half and it made about 60 bites.

IMG 0726

Liz also brought this fabulous pepper bread from Wegman’s, and Lauren brought gala apples. I actually really liked the apples in the fondue. That might have been my favorite combo.

IMG 0728

Julie, and her husband Dan, also made warm hard cider with mulling spices. It really hit the spot.

IMG 0730

Dessert was not far behind. Two homemade cookies. Whole wheat almond butter from Jen.

IMG 0733

And pumpkin coconut macaroons from Liz.

It was a really fabulous meal. And it was a fun, relaxed blogger meet up. So glad I could be in town for it. Thanks for an awesome afternoon girls!

4. Butternut Squash Soup – I’ve been doing a lot of cooking at home this week. I made a big pot of this soup that I have been enjoying mini meals from all weekend. Recipe soon to follow – this post is getting rather lengthy.

5. Hummus {and Lentils} – My mom makes the. best. hummus! I’m going to have her make a batch to take back with me. I’ve also been enjoying snacks of hummus with my soup.

Here I am helping with clean up after she made a big batch.

6. Joy - I’ve been having such a good time at home, that I cannot decide when to leave. I actually cry anytime I think about it. I should technically be leaving today, but I don’t know if I can bring myself to do it. And actually, it seems rather impossible for me to leave today since I still haven’t finished running my errands in Syracuse or done laundry to pack. Looks like I might not be going anywhere today…

Do you have 6 words for your weekend?

What is your favorite Fall activity? Apple picking is definitely mine.

I’m off to go squeeze in my run for today and tend to the lovely smelling apple butter cooking in the crock pot : )

Live Beautiful,

Ashley

Finally, What are you proud of today? I’m proud of my pretzel bites. I sense a lot more bread baking in the future. It really was not that difficult. But also don’t have any space in back in NYC, so we will see.
