As part of my effort to get out of my funk , live my life more beautifully, and worry less there are a number of things I have started to do:
Started reading Quantum Wellness: A Practical Guide to Health and Happiness by Kathy Freston. I’m hoping this book will help me be more grounded and content with my life. Plus it comes highly recommended by Oprah, Dr. Oz, AND Ellen Degeneres. I’m only on the first chapter so more updates to come.
I now subscribe to emails from Daily Love . I haven’t actually read the blog, but I like receiving the quotes daily. The messages are always inspiring and help remind me to stay positive. The site calls it an e-multivitamin for your soul. My favorite quote so far has been:
“Your life is an occasion, rise to it.” - Mr. Magorium, a fictional character from the 2007 film Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and was played by Dusin Hoffman.
The biggest thing is I’m to focus more on the positive things and the little things that make me happy everyday. I’m trying to go out of my way to acknowledge these things; my morning breakfast/coffee routine, having the weight room to myself some mornings, how good it feels to take my boots and bra off after a long day.
And what are weekends for if not good things? This weekend – chose to sit back and let it take me over. And what a welcome break from the norm it was! I let myself relax, when usually I need to be going, going all weekend or I feel like I am wasting time. Instead, bb and I chose to stay in almost the entire weekend. We lounged, cooked (ate all our meals in!), got work done, cuddled. Good things from this weekend:
I finally watched Sleepless in Seattle all the way through. Such a cute movie, esp with V-day coming up. The best part (besides the end!) is when Rita Wilson is crying slash describing An Affair to Remember, ahaha I can definitely relate. I’m ashamed to admit I cry every time in The Notebook.
I busted out my Ninja Food Prep and made hummus with my mom’s simple recipe. The consistency was perfect! bb kept trying to “taste test” the entire batch. Homemade is so good. Can’t wait for lunches this week. I also made a lil sumptin’ for my foodie pen pal this month.
We did venture outside to Trader Joe’s! If you can believe it, I have not been since before Christmas. Remind me never to go again on a Sunday afternoon, but regardless it is nice to have our fridge/freezer fully stocked >> read overflowing. No buying lunches out this week!
bb and I worked out together! Between all the computer work and laziness we did go down to the building gym. The last time we worked out together was when I dragged him on a run with my last June. I love couple exercise and we need to do it more.
Last but not least, I booked a Spring trip! More on that later. I’m pretty pumped.
This weekend was all about letting go of tension, being productive, and appreciating the little things.
I took this at Egg , last weekend. I’m a southerner at heart (a clue to my trip).
If you can’t enough your weekend, what can you enjoy?
