Week 26 Pregnancy Update

Hello from a new week. We are nearing the end of the beloved second trimester and almost into the third. I am glad the middle one is the longest by far–from 12-28 weeks. The first one was short since you don’t really know what’s going on until Week 4 or 5 or later, and you feel pretty crappy the whole time. And the third seems short because I’m guessing you’re on pins and needles waiting for the big day. But the middle is nice and long and enjoyable.

This week, BabyCenter says the baby is the length of an English cucumber at about 14 inches long and 1 2/3 pounds. I am still most amazed that it gets pretty long early on and then spends a long time gaining weight.

The main theme of this week has been major kicks and rolls. I read that Weeks 24-28 have the most movement and then it slows down some, but WOW do I feel movements all.day.long. It’s like the thing doesn’t sleep. All night too. It kept me up one night for a long time because there was a dance party in my belly. I had read about people saying that before, but wow is that a weird feeling. It also seems to be hanging out right on top of my bladder which is really enjoyable as you might imagine.

For exercise this week, it was more of the same. A few weekend gym workouts and classes at Define. Still keeping to 4-5 days/week, although I feel slower and some things have gotten a little harder.

I spent a lot of the weekend cooking and baking. Glad the holidays are here so someone can benefit from my time and effort in the kitchen. I enjoy it!

We have a busy December, hoping for an easy few weeks! After next week, I’m off work until after the new year!
