Hi friends, hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday. I’m headed back from Lake Tahoe where my friend Stephanie and I spent the past couple of days scouting out some potential wedding venues in Truckee.
Truckee is a place where Country Western meets the mountains. It’s a bustling mountain town with lots of outdoorsy activities, wonderful restaurants and old town charm. We stayed at an adorable eco-friendly hotel and also a potential wedding venue site, the Cedar House Sport Hotel .
Friday night Stephanie and I were treated to a wonderful dinner at Stella , the hotel’s well known and much loved restaurant. It was truly a culinary experience. Sadly, my very dark iPhone photos would do the meal no justice so I will refrain from posting them, but here’s a photo of the restaurant itself, with Executive Chef Jacob Burton in the background. It was exciting to see him doing his thing in the kitchen from our table.
The hotel also has a wonderful breakfast which Steph and I thoroughly took advantage of during our stay. Yes, they had salad at the breakfast bar and I totally loved it! Mix a little fresh fruit in and these hearty greens can be a wonderful breakfast food. I also adored the potatoes and granola.
With snow on the ground, it’s hard to imagine what a June wedding might look like so I found these photos of another wedding held here from a local photographer’s web site .
I loved the hotel and think it’d be a wonderful venue site, especially since Rob and I love the outdoors and Truckee so much – I’m just still trying to stomach the cost of having a wedding.
Did any of you Mrs. out there grapple with the cost of a wedding when you started planning? Part of me just wants to elope!
