My goal in holding two showers, one in my home state of Michigan and one in my new home, wasn’t to receive twice the gifts, or make people celebrate me again and again. Far from it! I only wanted to ensure that those that wanted to celebrate our wedding wouldn’t have to go out of their way to travel and I think, in the end, it all worked out just fine.
My St. Louis (technically, Edwardsville) shower was this past Saturday and, while my mom put her all into the Michigan shower , Matt’s mom did the same for this one, and it showed!
The shower was held at a small event space and grocery on Main Street in Edwardsville – Township Grocer . I went there not too long ago for a Traveling Table event hosted by STLWineGirl and try to stop in every now and again for their specialty meats and cheeses. This time, we rented their space to host our shower, and they were more than accommodating.
The rustic wood flooring, mismatched tables, chairs, and linens, and foodstuffs for sale completely matched my wedding and own personal style.
The best part? Cleveland Heath agreed to provide the food! I talk about them all . the . time . They deserve any and all accolades they receive! They worked with me on menu preparation and even printed up a physical menu for the day. Anyone notice a typo? No big deal
We had around 20 people and though Township Grocer could have fit more, I thought 20 was the perfect size. As for food – all the empty plates at the end of the meal said it all. I ordered my old favorite, street tacos.
I opened gifts while Matt’s mom passed around dessert – her homemade cake balls. She’s been making cake balls for longer than they’ve been popular, and it shows in how authentic they taste!
The shower was a wonderful event and I couldn’t have asked for anything else. It was the perfect pre-wedding celebration!

P.S. Remember those giveaways I talked about long ago? They’re coming this week!
