Last month, I flew back to Michigan for my bridal shower. Our wedding isn’t until April 2013, but we wanted to have an early shower up in Michigan to avoid the snowy winter and allow elderly relatives that might struggle to travel a chance to celebrate. I wanted to post a few photos because, as you would imagine, the shower was very much filled with not only family and friends, but food!
The shower was held at one of my favorite places back home, Bastone Brewery . Bastone owns Vinotecca, the wine bar next door, and the shower was held in the basement of the two, in their wine cellar room.
We arrived early to decorate and display our wedding favors, which were of course all edible.
Burlap lined the tables, and dried flowers sat in the middle. Beehive candles sat on top of food magazines, and our edible favors were set next to each dish: local Michigan honey specially decorated for the shower, and a locally made cookie with Stacy + Matt on top.
Guests were also invited to take a tiny jar of hot pepper jelly, peanut butter sauce, and other jams on their way out. My bridesmaid made a towel cake…
…and my mom made a burlap wreath adorned with food ornaments, many of which she found at antique stores. Love those antique measuring cups!
She also put together a memory board with pictures of me and Matt as children and now, and guests put their cards in this mail basket that is now going into my kitchen.
My mom also worked with Matt’s mom to put together a recipe binder, full of our families’ recipes! Each guest was also asked to bring their own recipes, which later found their way into the binder.
I was so glad to have so many people make it to the shower. Everyone had a wonderful time – the food was excellent (I had steak with blue cheese butter!), and the wine and craft beer were flowing.
Here I am with four of my five bridesmaids (I’m in the pink sweater). They did an amazing job helping my mom put on the shower! My mom really did do a fantastic job putting it all together.
