Ahh. Colder weather is DEFINITELY here. And do you know what one of the (only) good things that frigid temperatures bring? Nice warm drinks! Today, Jen & Ziggy are here to share with you some of their favorite ways to warm up when the temps cool down! Thanks for the great post!

Hey everyone! We are Jen & Ziggy better known as the Crazy Cooking Couple . Over at our blog we talk mostly about (delicious) food and a bit about our adventures in and out of the kitchen
We have actually been reading about Caitlin and Beyond Bananas longer then we have been blogging ourselves and jumped at the wonderful opportunity to help her out.
In Cait’s posting earlier this week, she talked about a White Halloween, which is such an odd concept! We live in Maryland and while we have cold winters it is very abnormal for us to have snow so early! (We are pretty sure that it can be said for most of the USA!) This past week the chilly Maryland nights have been hovering right around freezing! It is kind of like we skipped right over fall and leaped into winter! With losing light hours and trying to stay warm winter can be a pretty dull season.
One thing that always cheers us up during the cold weather is all of those amazing hot fall and winter drinks! You can use warm drinks not only to warm up your hands and rejuvenate yourself from the cold (or snow shoveling) but it just makes your just feel great too! Nothing really beats a cold night, a hot tasty beverage, a great book and snuggling with your significant other and/or pet! So we want to share some of our favorite holiday drink ideas with you!
Hot Apple Cider-
You cannot talk fall without apple cider. A wonderful way to introduce the start of cold weather. Hot apple cider isn’t just for hayrides and pumpkin patch visits. There are some excellent apple cider recipes out there. A quick Google search an give you tons. Really. Do it. You will be so surprise on how many cider recipes you can find! For those looking for a “quick fix” for the apple cider needs Green Mountain Naturals has an excellent recipe! Their hot apple cider is made with real apples and has a list of ingredients that our 7 year old nephew could pronounce. Apples, brown sugar, stevia. And most importantly delicious! Only down side is it only comes in K-cup size! But now you have something to put on that holiday wish list!
Cold Weather Classic - Hot Coco/ Hot Chocolate
Come on! Who does not LOVE hot coco?! I mean seriously it is like a right of passage to really enjoy your winter. Hot coco powder from Hersey’s is always phenomenal but when you want to just “add water” we like the instant kind from Swiss Miss. Swiss miss has so many different kinds of coco they are sure to have something right up your alley! Dark Chocolate sensation, Milk Chocolate, and Marshmallow Lovers are go to favorites. For a sweet hot drink for a calorie steal Swiss Miss also has a “sensible sweets line” consisting of diet, fat free, and fat free marshmallow. A little bit of Reddi Whip and drizzle of chocolate sauce can take your “average” hot chocolate and turn it into faux-Starbucks (for less cash) and who does not love that!
Holiday Flavored Latte-
Jen is a self-admitted Starbucks snob. Starbucks = amaze balls. So many good drinks so little time! However, every year around the holiday season Coffee-mate comes out with some seriously scrumptious coffee flavors that you can pick up at just about any regular grocery store. Pumpkin spice, Gingerbread, Brown Sugar Maple, and our personal favorite Peppermint Mocha (which also comes sugar free FYI). If those favorites don’t just send you headed looking for your car keys to pick up a bottle are too you are crazy! As a latte, in hot coca, as regular coffee creamer or even mixed in some Greek yogurt it just adds the right amount of a tasty holiday touch.
Our favorite recipe latte recipe
¼ cup Almond Breeze Almond Milk
¼ cup liquid creamer (you can pick the flavor)
2 tsp chocolate syrup
2 shots of espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee)
Peppermint stick
Combine the 1st three ingredients in large cup. Microwave for 1 minute or til steaming hot! Pour in the espresso (or coffee) Use peppermint stick stir! Top with Reddi-Whip if desired and enjoy!
What is your favorite holiday drink? How do you warm up after bearing the cold all day!?
