Volunteering – GOTR

Posted Apr 30 2013 12:10pm

Have you heard of Girls on the Run ? I heard about it a couple years ago and finally decided to step up and volunteer. image

I initially wanted to be a coach or assistant coach, but I don’t have a whole lot of time right now to offer the program. That will just have to wait a few years until my boys are older and I have more free time. I also wanted to be a “running buddy” but this season their 5k is on Sunday, and I try to steer clear of things like that on Sunday. So this season I am a “Snack Superstar”!

Didn’t really feel like I was accomplishing much or helping out at all, but this program is pretty new to this area and their funding isn’t as much as they’d like, so they need all the help they can get – healthy snacks included. IMG_0778

I went to Costco and bought a couple bags of Cuties, but dressed them up a bit with some homemade, personalized stickers. I must be watching too much of the Cupcake Wars, because I seem to think that even the simplest snack needs a themed decoration to make them awesome!

My little G man loves stickers and loves “helping” me with any project, so I lined them up for him and he stuck away (60 Cuties in total). IMG_0786

I encourage you to get involved with Girls on the Run in your area. It’s a great program to get younger girls involved in the BEST sport there is Smile.
