Another race ID has made its way onto my wall, one day to be made into an exquisite gown for me to twirl in public on the streets of New York. Saturday’s 5K was wonderful, and the day flew by so fast I hardly realized I had driven to Seattle and back. Despite the cold weather, the run felt good. I attribute this to the meal I had a few nights prior.
Actually I am just saying that because I need a reason to make this meal everyday for the next week. That would be a spag squash stuffed with black beans, salsa, cheese, and some unpictured greek yogurt. I have decided to make a bomb shelter so that I can hoard seasonal items like squash and canned pumpkin. For a small fee I will open my shelter to the public for them to, “ooohh” and “aahhh” at my collection of rare treats.
Back on track. Manfriend and I sported our homemade shirts just as I said we would.
A few people commented on our shirts, “Aww. Brittany and Aaron you guys are cute.” I was Aaron of course. I can now cross my, “I want someone to think I have a boys name” off of my bucket list. Check.
Shoes.. as for my shoes. Not only did they feel fine the entire 3.11 miles..they also MATCHED my shoe clip. They must have planned this. “Let’s make a hideous yellow colored shoe clip to match that vegetarian girls hideous yellow asics..yes..lets do that.” As a girl that RARELY matches, I felt like top steed having my running shoes match with…. anything.
In all reality I could care less what my shoes LOOK like..it’s all about how they feel and as of now they feel fine. Let’s hope they stay this way as my mileage increases. One more prerace photo and off we ran to earn pounds of free fruit and Larabars.
The miles flew by, we ran about a 10 minute mile pace which was perfect. In my head I like to pretend I am a Kenyan gazelle, but in reality I move like a pregnant tortoise..which I am more than OK with. Our finish time for 3.11 miles was 31:31. That’s a lot of 3′s and 1′s. Post race I grabbed a bag and stuffed it full of free produce. Were talking at least 7 bananas and 7 apples. They were organic too..double win. Along with the produce I snagged 25 mini Larabars. No shame.
Do not let that photo fool you..the bag was STUFFED full. The best part of this bag was a new find. Blueberry muffin Larabar.
Ohh yes. Just yes.
The February race is complete, and it’s now time to sign up for a March race. St.Patrick’s day run here we come.
Q: Anyone else running a St.Patrick’s day race? I’m thinking it’s time to increase the race mileage to a 10K!
