Zeke and I headed out this morning with the intention of going for a long walk. Our walk was cut very short yesterday due to the extremely cold temperatures. I'm talking -25 degrees with the windchill. Wowza! It was still pretty cold today, so we were out for less than half an hour.
When we got back and warmed up, I made myself a bowl of oatmeal. I didn't anticipate this decision last night, so I didn't have the chance to soak my oats overnight. I didn't think it would actually make a big difference, but boy it did! My unsoaked oats were mushy and textureless. Blah!
I flavoured my oats with a bit of pure maple syrup and cinnamon. It was okay, but didn't make up for the mushy texture.
For those of you who still haven't tried soaked oats or think that there is no difference between soaked and unsoaked oats, try it for yourself! Soaking your oats overnight will change your oatmeal experience, I promise you!
