TYPES OF INSULINE AND DURATION OF ACTION

The types of insuline will categorize byways in which its extract- brovine(the cow),porcine(the pig) and human"recombinant"(bacterial extraction),in fact these types further categorize by the purity of the product and its time of action.by all of these ways and means the insulin which u uses are
Bovine - conventional- Short
Porcine - single peak- intermediate
Human - highly- purified long

Short acting: Soluble( Max. 2-4 hrs)
  • Actrapid,
  • Velosulin
Intermediate acting (Max. 5-10 hrs)
  • Insulatard
  • Isophane
  • Lente
  • Monotard
Long acting PZI (Max. 8-12 hrs)
  • ultra lente
Mixed insuline:
  • Initard: 50% velo and 50 insulatard
  • Mixtard: 30 velo and 70% insulatard
  • Rapitard: 25% Neutral and
  • 75% crystalline (highly purified)

Administration:

1. Low dose frequent
2. Sliding scale
3. According to previous blood sugar estimation
