Recently I have been in a bit of an eating rut. I would eat healthy for a few days then freak out and start craving really fattening and sugary foods then boom! I would binge like it was then end of the world!
I got really frustrated with myself, I should be able to do this, I mean I already posted a before picture on my blog! I want to post the AFTER! It wasn’t my fitness that was holding me back, it was my nutritional choices or lack there of. There is no fitness goal which you can achieve without first cleaning up your diet. Changing your diet is one of the biggest challenges when faced with improving ones health. So I went to my local book store and that’s when I stumbled upon The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno and had my “ah ha” moment!
In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk. These types of food include man-made sugar, bad fats (hydrogenated, trans-fat), preservatives, white bread, and any other ingredients that are unnecessary. An easy way to remember if a food is clean is: “if man made it, don’t eat it.”
A person that eats clean generally practices the following:
