So yesterday I found the sah-weetest track at a community centre in my neighbourhood. Why it made my life:
It’s inside
It’s FREEEEE
It has a lane just for running
It’s in an ice rink so it’s nice and COOL
It’s soft on my feet
All the seniors doing their walks give me funny faces when they see my stupid shoes
The downside was I don’t get satellite reception there so I couldn’t use my Garmin or MapMyRun app. I used a timer instead and made sure I was done my laps before the beep! It worked out pretty well!
I did about 44 laps total, it went like this:
4 laps warm up
6.5 laps (1600m/1 mile) in 7:46mins
3.25 laps (800m) recovery
6.5 laps in 7:46mins
3.25 laps recovery
6.5 laps in 7:46mins
3.25 laps recovery
6.5 laps in 7:46mins
4 laps cool down
In the end I felt like a champ but got a bit tired of literally running in circles so I decided to just walk home, about 4km or 2.5 miles. I took my SWEET time walking and by the time I got home my calorie burn was cray.
Do you like running on a track? I freaking love it, it’s kinda weird. I think because the laps go by so fast and everything is smooth sailing sans hills and wind and ALLERGENS.
