For those of you who are new to Tabata it is a great way to get a tough workout in with little to no equipment and it can be done in a very short amount of time. The concept is simple; 4 minutes rounds, 20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8x. Before you attempt to complete a Tabata workout I highly recommend opening up your computer or downloading the Tabata Timer app to your smartphone. You hit start and it times your work and rest for you and you just do the work!
At any point in your workouts if an exercise feels too intense or you do not feel prepared take a step by, check out your form or take a modification (example, stick with simple squats for round 1 and skip the jump squats or for lateral jacks do regular jumping jacks). Do what feels right for your body and it will be thankful. Enjoy!
