Too Busy to Exercise?

I saw this little comic about being too busy to exercise and I just HAD to laugh! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! In fact, I wish I could carry it around with me, so whenever I talk to people and hear them say this “oh-so-common” phrase, about how they are too busy to exercise, “blah-blah-blah-blah-blah”, I could whip it out and show them THIS!

 

Sorry friends… but the cold hard truth with this “I’m too busy phrase,” is this: When you say that you WISH you could EXERCISE, but CAN’T because you are TOO BUSY, what you are really doing is just trying to make yourself feel better about NOT MAKING the time to exercise!

 

We MAKE time for our PRIORITIES in life! If your health, and your body is TOP PRIORITY to you, you WILL in fact MAKE the time to exercise, no matter HOW difficult the task.

 

One of my current clients is a perfect example of this. She is a full-time working mother of two kids… but that’s not the clincher. Her toddler has a heart defect and a host of of other serious health problems. She and her husband are in and out of doctors visits, hospital stays and have dealt with the emotional struggles of watching their child go through 16 surgeries in his short life so far. If ANYONE should be able to say that they are TOO busy to find the time to exercise, it should be this client of mine! But instead, she has learned to put her needs first.

 

She is disciplined.

 

She has set her priorities straight.

 

She makes time to exercise.

 

and…

 

She has lost 50 pounds!

 

To do this, my client is waking up on some days at 4:30 in the morning to get an hour long cardio session in with her friends… before coming to my house to do an hour long workout session with me! I say that NOT to discourage people… but to prove my point that EVERYONE can create time to exercise! Even if you only find 20 minutes to exercise!

 

The best part of all, is that my client has told me several times, that she is feeling more energetic than BEFORE she started exercising… and that she is even feeling HAPPIER! These common “side-effects” are scientifically proven to be a result of regular exercise! So why WOULDN’T you want to make exercise a priority in your life? Hmmm? If it hasn’t been one already, maybe you should step back and take a look at how you’re feeling. Decide if you are as happy or as energetic as you want to be. If not… just start out easy. You don’t need to exercise for an hour or two a day! Just start out small and simple. Take a walk around the neighborhood. Enjoy the fresh air and oxygen in your lungs. Get your body moving and feel how energized you feel afterwards.

 

Once you begin exercising and do it just a few times, most likely your body will start to CRAVE it… and soon it will become such a priority in your life that you won’t let too many things get in the WAY of it!

 

Now go out and have a healthy day!
