I hope everyone enjoyed their New Year's celebrations! Ryan and I had the most productive and healthy New Year's day I can remember. We were at yoga at 10am, purchased new running shoes (felt very cliche), and took the dog on a walk all before 2pm!
I have a few resolutions this year that I will share over the next week, but as you put yours together and as we all know fitness ones usually top the list you can check out my tips to help you be successful with your fitness routine over at Celeste and Pearl.
Over the past week some of my workout plans have had to be altered due to weather conditions. I'm doing better dealing with the cold, but I fear any snow that may have ice underneath. So, instead of a long run outside last week I opted for an intense treadmill interval workout. It goes by quick, prevents boredom, you will work hard, and feel very accomplished!
Modify/change the speeds given to fit your appropriate level of running. In choosing your three speeds for the workout; find a challenging running speed that you can maintain, this speed goes in the middle. For the first speed lower to 1.0 mph less than the middle speed, and for the third speed increase to 1.0 above the middle speed. The third speed should be very challenging, almost a sprinting pace but make sure you can maintain for 2 minutes. The first speed should be a run, but feel like an active recovery.
