Did anyone happen to come across this article on CNN.com last week? Or perhaps you heard about it on the news?
Study: Pregnant women can drink.. a little

Oddly enough the article came out the day before my last post where I shared with all of you that I indulged in a glass of celebratory champagne when we moved.
There are three key results from the study that I would like to share with you:
- “Youngsters of mothers who drank one or two 8 oz. glasses of alcohol a week during their pregnancies had no problems with their behavioral or intellectual development by the time they turned five.”
- “There was no evidence to suggest that the babies born of mothers classified as light drinkers, (those who had no more than one or two glasses of alcohol a week) were at all harmed.
- “…data showed these babies were 30% less likely to have behavioral problems and had higher scores in mental development tests than those babies born of women who abstained in pregnancy.
Once I became pregnant I did a lot of online research about this subject and came across several articles that discussed how there isn’t any evidence to prove that drinking a moderate amount of alcohol while pregnant is harmful to the baby.
Of course I did consult with my doctor before I enjoyed my first sip of wine and similar to the results of the study, he claimed that one or two glasses of wine or beer a week is perfectly fine beginning in the second trimester.
I will admit that it frustrates me when I hear woman say “having a glass of wine while pregnant is not worth the risk! Why would you do that to your unborn baby!?”
But I don’t get it? Risk what?
There is zero evidence that proves there is any risk!
And would you look at that, it actually appears that light drinking can actually be beneficial.
So please don’t give me dirty looks if you see me enjoying a glass of wine with dinner once a week.
****I would like to make sure everyone is aware that I am talking about light/moderate drinking here, not binge/excessive drinking****
Q for U-
What are your thoughts on enjoying a drink while pregnant? Do you think I’m being selfish?
Be honest!

Here is my 24 week baby bump.
I am growing like a weed, no? I feel like the bump is more pronounced when I put my hands above and below it :)
This week baby BF2 is a little over a pound and almost a foot long, and my uterus is the size of a soccer ball!
Thankfully I can still fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans, but I do use a BeBand to hold them up since I can’t button them. I found the BeBand to be a lot more comfortable than I expected!
In other, other news –
I joined a gym this week!
For only $10 a month, with a $10 initiation fee, and no commitments! How can you beat that?!
All summer/fall I have been walking and doing yoga, but now that the cold weather is just is creeping upon us I figured I would join a gym for a few months. I would never have paid to belong to a gym that had a large initiation fee (um, LA Fitness) had a year long commitment (clearly I won’t be able to go after February)or had an unreasonable monthly fee. Yay for Planet Fitness !
To be quite honest I am getting a bit bored of walking and am excited to hit up the elliptical and stationary bike. It will be nice to chance things up a bit!
Happy weekend!
