The healing seed of yoga was planted at a painful time in Theresa’s life in 2005 and the fruit of spirituality, health, and community that yoga creates has continued to grow and flourish ever since.
Theresa, known as Taozi 桃子（Peach）to her Chinese students, has been teaching since 2008.
She began teaching hot yoga in Beijing in a mixture of Chinese and simplified English. At the same time she began a 2 year long YTT with her guru Uton Laoshi, focusing on Ashtanga and energy meridians.
In Bali, Indonesia in 2011 she completed a 250hr 5 Element Form/Hatha YTT with Santosha, an Australian based yoga school, studying under yoga master Peter Clifford.
The bulk of her training was recently completed during a study trip to India where she studied Aryuvedic medicine in Kerala, followed by the completion of an Ashtanga YTT, as well as a Pre- Post Natal and Yoga Therapy/Restorative YTT at Varkala beach.
Next she headed to Rishikesh, India, the yoga capital of the world to complete another 300hr Hatha YTT at Rishikesh Yog Peeth. With 1000hrs of YTT experience she is thrilled to have the opportunity to share the sweetness of her practice with others. Her classes are an eclectic mix of all the things she has learned and loved from her gurus all around the world.
Her life philosophy is that “The seeds we water are the seeds that grow “…meaning that wherever we decide to put our energy, our thoughts, and our actions are the areas of our lives that will grow. Today, we can choose a path of yoga and watch the fruits of spirituality, heath, and community grow in our own lives.
Currently teaching yoga in Mexico, Theresa and her fiancee plan to open their dream yoga school very soon – Taozi Tree Yoga.
