There’s nothing like Old Fashioned Christmas to get me in the holiday spirit.

Old Fashioned Christmas is West Chester’s annual holiday parade, tree lighting ceremony and festivities.  It’s amazing.  I always feel so extremely fortunate to live in such a beautiful town.  If I didn’t live here, I’d want to vacation here.  Seriously, it’s just that cute.

Thousands (!) came out for the parade this year, and it did not disappoint.  I lost track of how many marching bands there were, and there were so many different multi-cultural music groups and dance groups.  Old firetrucks, holiday-themed floats, martial-arts groups, old cars and tractors, local politicians, and of course, Santa.  Haha, even fallen American Idol contestant Jason Castro performed- random, right?!

It’s hard to really capture the essence of the night by just describing the parade.   Of course there are lights, wreaths and garland in all of the store fronts and on all of the store fronts.  All of the shops stay open and serve drinks and cookies, and many offer sales.  There are carolers and performances of Christmas Carol.  Historic tours of the town.  Plus many of the bars and restaurants offer specials on drinks and seasonal menu items.

Old Fashioned Christmas is a really amazing tradition.  I’ll never get sick of it.  I really do live in the prettiest small town.
