The Vanishing Appetite ...

Posted Oct 02 2009 3:08pm

Hi!

Despite not eating very much yesterday I still didn’t wake up very hungry for breakfast. But I was feeling weak so I knew I needed some fuel!

I was planning on having a pumpkin cottage cheese mixture but when I woke up my throat was still feeling a bit raw and something hot seemed like a more soothing option. So bring in the oats! In the pot went:

  • 1/3 cup oatbran cooked in 1 cup water + cinnamon
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup pure pumpkin (stirred in after I “whipped” the banana)
  • 3 tbsp liquid egg whites (tempered in after I turned the heat off)
  • Splash of Almond Dream
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

I’m guessing it was good- I could barely taste it! :(

I was contemplating going to the gym and I finally decided to go for it. I told myself I’d do low intensity and if I started to feel worse I would quit. Surprisingly I actually felt better after my workout! Here’s what I did:

  • 30 minutes on the elliptical (interval program 2 minutes resistance 1, 2 mins resistance 8)
  • Various back work- low row, lat pull downs, bent over row
  • Various shoulder work- lateral raises, v-raises, shoulder presses, upright row
  • 15 minutes on the stationary bike

When I came home from the gym I still wasn’t hungry! Who am I?? Workouts always make me starving! I knew I needed some more fuel though so I had a bit of a random mini meal- 1 Oikos yogurt with cinnamon and 1/2 tsp Wholesome Sweeteners Raw Blue Agave Nectar, 2 oz fresh deli turkey with hot sauce and pepper, and a handful of beets.

The agave nectar was awesome! I only needed 1/2 of a tsp to sweeten up the whole yogurt. I prefer agave to honey- it’s much more liquid-y and satisfies my sweet tooth. Mmm I can’t wait to use it on more items!

After my snack I hung out with Bryon for a while. I finally got a twinge of hunger around 1:00 so me and Bryon headed to get some gelato! If you recall the last time I went I got a scoop of peanut butter and a scoop of sunflower seed butter. This time they had a bunch of new flavors! I got a scoop of cinnamon and a scoop of nutella-crunch. It was sooo good!

Lucky for me I could taste those! The cinnamon was yummy- it reminded me of my beloved pumpkin :) And the nutella crunch was soo good! I loved the chocolate chunks :D

When I came home I took a little nap and then woke up and ran some more errands. My family has been pleading me to make the Veggie Parmesan for like a week now so I decided to make it tonight.

So obviously I had some for dinner! For my portion I omitted the cheese and added 4 oz of chicken breast for some protein. With the usual steamed broccoli with Braggs Amino Acids on the side:

Sorry to all the vegetarians out there but the chicken was a delicious addition! It’s such an easy and versatile recipe. And my family loves it!

After an hour long walk with Bryon I came home and ate an orange - I was craving some fluids! Plus a TJ’s High Fiber Cake with some Sunbutter on top:

Sorry today was such a boring day of eats- I’m scared to see what happens when my appetite comes back! I already know it’s going to come back in full force! haha.

Hope you all had a wonderful day! See you tomorrow!
