The Skinny on Healhty Fats

Believe it or not, healthy fats are essential to your diet. Healthy fats can lower your cholesterol and reduce your risk for heart disease. There are three groups of healthy fats:
  • Monounsaturated fat is found in olive oil and avocados.
  • Polyunsaturated fat is found in vegetable oil, nuts and seeds.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids are found in cold-water fish, flaxseeds, flax oil and walnuts.

Tuna Avocado Salad

This recipe is great for any quick lunch at the office and provides you with a daily dose of essential fats.


  • 1 6oz can of tuna (packed in water)
  • 1 tbsp of Low-fat mayonnaise
  • 1 avocado
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Drain tuna and place in a bowl.
  2. Add mayonnaise and celery to the bowl and mix.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cut avocado in half and remove pit.
  5. Stuff tuna salad mixture in avocado halves and eat.
