It'sRodeo seasonand Waylon and Willie said it themselves:Mammas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
As a mother, I would have to agree. But as a spectator, there is nothing more thrilling to watch than a cowboy who is willing to risk his neck for 8 seconds of riding glory and the possibility of prize money. In fact, the death-defying confrontation between man and beast has made bull riding and the rodeo in general one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
Just as spectators flock to a NASCAR race because of its inherent danger, the rodeo possesses a blood-and-guts excitement that sells tickets -- evenWall Street has taken notice. However, like most sports, to enjoy the rodeo (or feel the pain) you have to get to know the players. That means the riders and the animals.
Make no mistake about it, there's a lot more involved than just a timer.
