the most nourishing green smoothie I’ve ever made {fruit free}

We’ve all heard it.

Sugar makes your blood sugar spike. Sugar makes ya gain weight. Sugar this, sugar that.

But, some of us never stop to think: oh yeah, there’s a ton of sugar in fruit!

Although some organically and locally sourced fruits are tremendously beneficial for some people, it’s also nourishing to try a day or two (or in this case two weeks…shout out #spiritedsugarcleanse) without any at all.

I know- you’re totally gunna miss your green smoothies full of fruit in the morning.

I get it!

Which is why this recipe was birthed!

Whether you are healing from a candida or parasite issue, whether you are sugar cleansing , or whether you just want a more nourishing smoothie option- this recipe will do the trick.

So before you read the ingredients and go, “wait what?!” I’ve gotta let you in on something.

There’s a raw egg yolk in here.

I ate a raw egg.

Before you get grossed out, please let me explain!

Eggs are one of the top allergens known..(along with corn, soy, wheat, etc, etc) but according to Dr. Mercola, that’s because they’ve been cooked. Eggs are a wonderful source of proteins and fats- all packed within a cute little shell! Eating eggs raw prevents the protein from being denatured, which greatly enhances the nutrient value. As I’ve discussed in this video, I added eggs back into my diet for generous amounts of Vitamins A, B, K, and D as well as choline, ample antioxidants, and to improve hormone production via the thyroid and adrenal glands.

If you’re scared about cholesterol or salmonella, let Dr. Mercola take it away…

It’s a little tiny bit sweet.

It’s a little tiny bit bitter.

It’s super-duper creamy.

It’s nourishing.

It’s blood sugar stabilizing.

It’s beautifying!

It’s FREAKING GOOD– if I do say so myself!

  • fresh
  • free-range
  • pasture raised (ie they eat grass, compost, and bugs)
  • preferably, they should come from a farmers market or a place where you know how the condition of the farm is.
  • hormone-free
  • Just plain eggs- opt out of the vegetarian labeled eggs and the omega-3 rich eggs. (The vegetarian chickens were probably fed GMO corn and soy & the omega-3 chickens probably ate flax seed that was rancid)

Does the raw egg yolk still freak you out?

I’ve gotta tell you- I’m totally digging it!

  • If it totally does freak you out and your body says a flat out NO, add chia gel instead! Simply rehydrate chia seeds in water and use 2 tablespoons of that for the creamy factor in this drink.
