I’m thrilled to introduce you all today to the breakfast that’s been filling my happy little belly up every morning for months now. I’m certainly not the first person to come up with this idea, and I first stumbled upon the idea thanks to Andrea (who’s going to make the worlds best doctor!)
While I clearly think the oatmeal tastes incredible if you really don’t like the taste of eggs you should probably pass. I think I could taste the eggs a bit the first few times I made it but now I don’t notice it at all. Adding 1/4 cup of egg whites to the oats makes them super huge and fluffy, and adds 5 grams of protein for only 30 calories!
Step 1: Mix the oats and water together and microwave for 90 seconds
Step 2: Stir in egg whites and microwave for 45 seconds (I like to use a fork to really mix them in well.)
After 45 seconds and stirring:
Step 3: Stir/fluff up well and microwave again for 45 seconds
Step 4: Pile in as many toppings as possible and enjoy your bowl of delicious gooey oats.
Warning: I like my oats super thick. Like, if I stuck my spoon straight down in the middle of the bowl it would stick straight up. If you don’t want to feel like your eating raw oatmeal cookie dough batter (and you must be insane) then you may need to experiment with adding more water.
I’ve sometimes go to sleep dreaming of this breakfast. Is that weird? That white in the middle is some sugar. I’ve got a sweet tooth in the morning! So shoot me. What’s your go to breakfast? What are your favorite oatmeal toppings?
