Speaking of exercise, a study was released this September in the Archives of Internal Medicine that examined the benefits of physical activity in elderly people. While such benefits have long been proven in younger populations, this particular study looked at a group of people over the age of 70. Most significantly, this study proved that initiating exercise in people as old as 85 years of age had an impact on their rates of independent living and mortality. The intensity and duration of exercise is less important than just moving. WOW! This is really interesting and just goes to show you that it's never too late to start exercising. Your body will reward you, no matter how old you are. |
