Put the two together and you have one very happy Toronto Girl West!
Even on a grey winter’s day, the main street in the town manages to be cute as a button.
Lately, I’ve found yet another reason to visit the lovely downtown area. You see, I’ve discovered Big Bang Bagels .
And let’s just say I kind of heart the place!
When you walk into the small corner store, you’re greeted by a list of about two dozen freshly baked bagels, an open kitchen, and homey surroundings.
There are so many delicious choices (and great locally brewed coffee too) but lately my stand-by is a plain whole wheat bagel with a bit of regular cream cheese.
To. Die. For.
Their bagels are made fresh in-house throughout the day. In fact, you can often see the (exceedingly friendly) workers making a new batch in the back.
Today, I got to talking with one of the girls at the store and she explained that Big Bang Bagels has been in its present location for a little over two years. Before that, the owner rented out some kitchen time in a nearby pizza shop. The owner, made a name for herself by selling her wares at farmer’s markets and similar events; eventually she realized she was popular enough to start her own place.
And based on how busy it gets over lunch time, I can honestly say that Big Bang Bagels is a resounding success!!!
In fact, during the busy times they’ll often sell 1000 bagels in a day!
Their bagels are subtly crispy on the outside and incredibly chewy on the inside. In one word – they’re bagel perfection.
In fact, I’m pretty sure that once you have a Big Bang Bagels there’s no going back. I’ve been wrecked to the world!
Bottom Line: I can’t recommend this place enough! The food is delicious. The workers incredibly friendly. The coffee, beautifully roasted. The atmosphere, decidedly Fernie (read: laidback and cute). What’s not to love!?!?!?!
Question: Are you a bagel person? What do you like in yours? Better yet, have you ever made bagels? Care to share the recipe?
