Tanning Red

Posted Jan 15 2009 7:49pm
Have you ever heard that tanning beds are beneficial? That they provide the vitamin D your body needs? Well lets set the record straight.

First, the amount of vitamin D you need can be fulfilled by spending 10 to 15 minutes in the sun twice a week without sunscreen. This can be as easy as driving to work or drinking two glasses of milk a day.

Second, the harmful UV rays that tanning beds provide damage your skin and cause skin cancer.

So the arguement that tanning beds can be benefical to satisfy you body's need for vitamin D doesn't hold much water.

Like to be a darker shade? Try using a spray tan or a bronzer. These alternatives can give the same look without aging you beyond your years.
