Over the past few weeks months, I have been ridiculously busy. Having the husband come home for the first time in 6 months, a proposal, shingles, family issues, starting a new job, getting married, planning a honeymoon, prepping for his deployment, and now the holidays has left me little time for myself. Hence the lack of blogging
As I was glancing over the NHBPM alternative prompts I found one that would be perfect to take some time to talk about… ”How to take time for yourself”
Even with my busy schedule I have still made time to take care of myself. I believe taking 30 to 60 minutes out of my day for myself is important. Not everyone is the same but personally I need some down time.
The best time for me is in the mornings… before the day gets away from me and before you know it I’m catering to everyone else but myself for the rest of the day.. It comes with the nursing job ..
Usually I like to take “me” time by working out – even if it’s for 20 minutes. That’s enough to help me prepare for the day. Side note: Yes I caved and bought new vibrams today. I also consider this taking time for myself
Some days waking up at 5am just doesn’t cut it for “me time”. On those days I try to plan some time in the afternoon or evenings to do things that help me relax..
Making good dinner, drinking coffee with some awesome sugar free flavoring, and anything covered in chocolate
I also consider carving pumpkins at midnight for your wedding with bffs, acting crazy in the car while drinking coffee before work, and carrying around balloons like a 5 year old also are thrown in the “taking care of me” category.
Whatever helps me remain sane and happy is how I take care of myself. Squeezing in 5 minutes a day to reflect on the day can also be helpful. It doesn’t have to be long.. Just enough to make you smile
One more thing… I also suggest planning a vacation with your best friend. We’ll be going to Disney world tomorrow for our honeymoon/vacation. It will be my first time!
