Tailgating Tips for a Fit Football Season!

Posted Sep 15 2010 12:00am
  • Pre-portion snacks like chips and crackers to avoid overfilling.
  • Don’t forget the fruit–try fruit kebobs or fruit salad in portion cups.
  • Veggies are a great vehicle for hummus, guacamole, dips and salsa.
  • Meat and veggies kebobs are also good choices for portion control and can help with slowing eating speed (it’s hard to shovel with a little spear).
  • Use Greek yogurt (like Chobani ) instead of sour cream for dips. You’ll get more satisfying protein.
  • If fruit doesn’t cut it for your sweet, use mini cupcakes or dessert “shooters” to keep portions in check.
  • Drink plenty of water. Being normally hydrated helps with knowing when you are actually hungry and full.
  • Ask yourself this simple question “Am I hungry?” If yes, eat. If no, move away from the buffet line.

Have a fun and safe time!
