Hello my friends! I’m a little delayed in posting today because I decided today was finally the day to switch from my maiden name gmail account to my new married name gmail account. Um – who knew so much of your online life was tied to Google?! I literally spent the past 3 hours exporting and importing data (think calendars, google drive, google+, YouTube, email contacts, gchat, signatures, adsense… and more) and I think now I’m finally done. Whew! That was the final step in my name change process and I’m glad to be done.
Anyway! Before deciding to spend way too much time switching email accounts, this morning I got some work done and then headed to a yoga class at CorePower in Georgetown with my friend Gena .
When I wrote about checking the studio out for the first time a month ago , a bunch of you commented that I should try their hot yoga sculpt class – a heated power yoga class with weights! Gena also recommended it so we made a date to hit it up this morning, and man oh man… it kicked my butt!
We started with a normal yoga class but soon got into squats, cardio bursts, weights, and more squats. It was basically a boot camp in a heated room and I loved it! We were both dripping by the end and nearly collapsed on our mats for shavasana (the final relaxation pose in yoga). I can’t wait to go back for this class – I highly recommend it if there’s a CorePower near you! The class had fun upbeat music, too, which helped with morale.
In other news, yesterday I took the “Finish Rise and Shine Challenge”!
I’d say I probably say no to about 90% of the review requests/PR pitches I get via email, but this one caught my eye because our current dishwasher detergent has been majorly dropping the ball, especially where flaxseed is involved. Our dishes were practically coming out dirtier than I put them in, even if I rinsed them first. So when I got an email about trying out the Finish Quantum with New Power Gel , I was on board.
For the challenge, I was instructed to make my messiest, stickiest breakfast. My Flour Free Breakfast Pancake(click for recipe) fit the bill! It’s really easy to make and doesn’t dirty more than one bowl (and a pan, but the pan doesn’t get messy), but ground flaxseed + egg leads to a sticky mess if not rinsed right away.
A few minutes later and my pancake was ready! I’m so obsessed with this breakfast – I make it at least a few times a week!
As part of the challenge, I was told not to rinse the bowl, so after I ate the pancake I just popped the bowl I used to mix the ingredients in right into the dishwasher without rinsing it. Ew.
I wasn’t supposed to run the dishwasher until last night so that the bowl had lots of time to get all crusty. I ran the dishwasher overnight with the Finish gel and checked it this morning. I have to say – color me impressed. The bowl was good as new!
Our glasses looked a lot prettier, too – we’ve been having trouble with them still looking smudged out of the dishwasher. So, I’d say the challenge was a big success! If you want to try the product yourself, check out their website for a coupon. (Disclaimer: I received a free box of Finish Quantam for this post plus a Visa gift card to buy recipe ingredients.)
And now, time to get back to work on this rainy Tuesday! Stay tuned – I’ll share a new quick and easy recipe with you guys tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a picture of this poster that I spotted in Chop’t yesterday. I loved it.
