A few months ago, I met one of Lululemon’s Community Managers. During that meeting I learned that Lulu has a core mission of self empowerment and community engagement. I thought this was pretty cool, so after a few emails and ideas being thrown around, a Blogger Sweat Party came to be. Refine happens to be one of Lulu’s community ambassadors and I happen to be one of Refine’s weekly clients, so it seemed like the perfect match!
A great group of us got together to get our butts kicked by Laura in an extra sweaty class!
One thing I often forget to mention about Refine is that it’s not a barre class! It’s almost like a small group training session meets bootcamp with long, lean muscles as its objective.
The class begins with a gentle warm up. This is followed by a cardio burst and some ab work. Then you get into the intervals series. There is a strength section lower body(such as squats and lunges with the kettleball) followed by upper body (typically push ups (straight arm only!!) or exercises using the pulleys) finished off with an ab exercise. Next is a cardio burst. Then you have two more intervals with different exercises. Finally you finish on the mat with some ab and glute work before a good stretch! The nice thing about the class is that there is a lot of cardio, your heart rate is almost always up….or at least mine is!
After the class, it was time to pop the bubbly…and believe me, we deserved it
Amanda did the honors!
We sipped, snacked and socialized for a bit.
Antioxidants were involved!
Amanda and Leticia talked about goal setting to really live the life you imagined. It definitely takes guts to share you goals aloud, let alone plan steps to achieve them! However, if you need help, you can go to any Lulu store and learn more about goal setting! Even if you goal is to own a queen bed!
All in all, it was a great night! I was stocked to see so many familiar faces. I pretty much jumped up and down every time someone walked through the door! As busy as life is, it’s great that the NYC blog community makes time for each other, especially when we can multitask and sneak a workout in as well!
