Support Small Businesses

Posted Sep 15 2012 7:21am
Do you make an effort to support small businesses in your local area?

As new small business owners we hope that you do. It's definitely not easy to run a small business, but this post isn't a lecture.  Just simply a thought and word of encouragement to support small businesses.
What made me want to share this is two encounters we had today with struggling small businesses.  I got an email this afternoon from the place I get my running massages and facials from that said they were closing in November due to economic struggles.  The facility is so beautiful and the therapists wonderful.  Makes me sad.

Kyle had lunch today at a family owned sandwich shop near our gym.  After he left he noticed that there wasn't really anyone else in there and there's a Panera opening in the same strip mall soon.  Not a good formula.

Again, not trying to lecture.  Just sharing our thoughts.

In other Friday news I did some couponing today !  If you're a long time reader then you might remember that I used to coupon A LOT !  However with school, work, and the gym it's one of the first hobbies to get pushed aside.  I had some free time today and picked up some Publix BOGO specials. (if you want to learn more read our beginner's guide to coupons )
All of this - $8.58!

Dinner tonight was a breakfast pizza.  We had a leftover crust from our couples pizza party that I wanted to use up. As someone who doesn't like eggs I was delighted with the way it turned out.
Our breakfast pizza included (in layering order)
  • Thin crust
  • Fresh spinach
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Turkey bacon
  • Sauteed orange bell pepper
  • Colby Jack cheese
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

What's your opinion on supporting small businesses?  If you do support them what do you do specifically?

Love and breakfast for dinner,
Carissa & Kyle
