Excuse the dorky photo—I just can’t contain my goofy smile. I’m back!

Not just after a week away from the blog, but back to running. You read that right! After an excellent physical therapy session on Thursday, I was given the green light to try to run again. I went out for a short, jog with no music, no phone, no watch and no buddies on Friday to just tune in to my sore spots (if they popped up) and listen to my footsteps. After 10 weeks without running, it felt amazing. The best part: I didn’t experience too many aches during or after.

In related news, my official Oiselle team profile is now live, so click here to check it out . It’s such an honor to be the sole team member representing the great state of Iowa. Hopefully I’ll be able to make them proud at a few races before the end of the season!

Besides discovering my ability to run some again, I found a few helpful stories worth sharing from the blogosphere and beyond:

  • With the pounding weights and speed demon treadmill runners, the gym can be an intimidating place. Personal trainer Jess, who writes over at Blonde Ponytail, eases your fears about 5 common worries related to working out in public . Number 5 is so true!
  • I’m a fan of PB2, yet somehow I’d never considered swapping it in for a large portion of the regular flour in cookies, like the brilliant Stuft Mama. What a smart twist on make peanut butter-flavored cookies !
  • Considering signing up for your inaugural triathlon? Healthy Tipping Point’s Caitlin has a rundown of logistics for first-timers that is a must-read.
  • Yoga isn’t for everyone, true. But with so many styles out there, you can likely find at least one that you enjoy! Take a look at this story I had a blast writing for fitnessmagazine.com to learn about the 5 most popular styles and which celebrities are fans of each.

And since October is here—the official National Pizza Month—I’ve rounded up all of my recent recipes in one handy place. Pizza party, anyone?

I think mine was pretty clear, so tell me: What was the highlight of your week?
