Summer Holiday Primer – Day 9 – Get inspired

Posted Sep 29 2013 12:38am

It’s Sunday afternoon here in Mitta and I was out in the street speaking with a friend. She just arrived home from 2 weeks in Bali and is super relaxed, happy and full of great stories. Chatting with her got me thinking, when it’s been a while since you had a break you can forget how great it feels to get away on a holiday. It’s really easy to get a bit hung up on the parts of the holiday that are a difficult like flight schedules and taking the time away from your commitments.

So today’s little piece of prep is about getting inspired and excited. The best way to do this is to read travel blogs. The stories and the pics do the job of getting me pumped up for my holiday every time. Here are a few of my faves:

  • Y Travel Blog – Caz and Craig Makepeace have just begun their round Aus family trip and it’s making for some pretty great reading. Particularly good for Aussie destinations and travel with kids.
  • Anywhere but home – Naomi does some pretty interesting travel activities like a permaculture course in Thailand .
  • Leave Your Daily Hell – don’t be put off by the confronting title. Serves up some very beautiful photo essays.
  • Airstream Family – my dream. A custom Airstream caravan, a couple of kids and a bloody long road trip. Awesome.
