Stroller Fit...finally an attempt at some exercise!

So other than the long(ish) walks I've been taking Marcus on this past week, today I embarked on my first official exercise effort. Two of my mommy-friends were heading to a local "Stroller Fit" class so I decided to go along with them.
There is a great company here in the Lower Mainland called Runners and Booties Fitness and they host fitness classes for new moms including Salsa Tots, Shop n Stroll and Salsa Babies. The class we attended today was the Shop n Stroll at Lougheed Mall which is a stroller fit class at a local mall. The stroller fit classes are free and a great way to meet new moms and get some exercise.
I wasn't sure what to expect, I kinda thought it would be a bunch of moms wandering around the mall with their strollers. As it turned out, we arrived at the mall a half hour before it opened to meet the instructor. She lead us around the mall doing lunges, squats and speed walking etc. We also stopped a number of times to do static exercises with resistance bands and stuff. Overall, it was actually a good workout and it was nice to meet some new people.
The best part was definitely heading to Tim Horton's afterwards for yogurt and a cheese scone!
Anyhow, it was nice to get out and do something physical. It was probably the most actual exercise I've done since Marcus came along. Although I'm feeling pretty recovered now, some of the exercises were kinda tricky for the sore spots but I'm definitely on my way to getting back to normal. I even dashed about 100m into the London Drugs to buy a water and it was first actual 'running' I've done since Marcus was born. Certainly not real running, but it reminded me how anxious I am to get back out to hit the pavement for real.
So, Marcus' travels continue this week - I'm heading back up to the Okanagan tomorrow to spend a few days at the cabin with my parents. And, on Saturday we're heading down to Seattle for a baseball game and some shopping with my husband's family. On my 'to do' list for next week is to get his passport photos taken so that we can do some REAL travelling with him this fall!
