Stress Relief: baking + workouts

Posted Jan 20 2012 12:28pm

Its Friday! My week of hell is basically over. I need a mental break from school life. Theres only so much your brain can handle until it shuts off and burns out.

So yesterday, I did lots of baking

Carrot Cake Scuffins (vegan!)
I made these to be absolutely huge, and they make a great snack.

I also made blueberry oat bran muffins + apple-coconut blondies <–sort of made that one up. No pictures, but both were family tested and approved. Baking and being creative in the kitchen is definitely a calming stress reliever for me.

So, my brother installed Lightroom on my computer

and I have a pretty good idea of what I’m doing, but the uploading and/exporting/keeping it all organized/etc part is kind of confusing. Any pointers would be wonderful :) But its nice having a professional photographer in the family to hook me up with these things!

I also went and got a manicure yesterday – something I rarely do, but now I think I’m going to make this a new every-two-to-three-week hobby. They put the shellac on my nails, which is awesome because it doesn’t chip and lasts forever. I got them done on new years eve and it lasted no problem, so I decided to treat myself again. Its nice to look halfway decent on occasion ;)

On the fitness end, I did some amazing workouts this week. AND I’ve been waking up earlier  to get things done. I needed to have that hour to myself to not think about anything else but to sweat it out.  This week I’ve noticed that I’m feeling a lot stronger, and my endurance is getting even better, especially when it comes to sprints. Here’s how my week looked:

Sunday: Bi’s + Back

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: 20 min HIIT run + Chest

Wednesday: Circuit Training (upper body focused)

Thursday: Circuit Training (lower body focused. lotssssofffsquatsssss, plyo, jump lunges)

Friday: Arms (Bi’s and Tris) + Incline Tabata sprints (x3) with walking intervals in between each tabata set

Planned for tomorrow: either rest or a shoulder lift

Sunday: Rest

I’ve also been enjoying my snacks in anthro measuring cups that I got for Christmas.

Santa knows me so well. Not that me being in the store at the same time and picking it out myself had anything to do with it……

They were on sale and can use it for dual purposes! Measuring and eating. Couldn’t give that deal up!

Okay this post is taking me too long to write because I keep getting distracted with Lightroom. Maybe I’ll go take picture of those apple coconut blondies and then post about them since my dad won’t shut up about how good they are. Yes, I am tooting my own horn. Toot toooooot!

See ya later!

Do you treat yourself once in a while? If so , how? Usually I’ll buy clothes or something kitchen related, but having nice nails is a treat! I really could use a massage though..hmm…
