I don’t really pay attention to what foods are in season by the calendar. Most of the time I’m informed by what’s available at the local farmer’s markets. If it’s there I know it’s “ready”. But last week all the strawberry stands around town alerted me to the fact that Strawberries are ripe and ready for the eatin’!
The Strawberry Siren Song pulled me in and I bought half a flat of them!
After my husband and I made ourselves sick over eating them “straight up”, I decided to get creative.
There is of course the easy yogurt parfait way to enjoy fresh fruit…
But, after inspiration from a Whole Foods recipe I used them as a pizza topper!
Strawberry Ricotta Pizza: On one prepared pizza crust layer – ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, sliced strawberries and a drizzle of honey. Bake until the cheese is melted. Enjoy!
