If your like most people you find it challenging to stick to a fitness routine. After a month, a week or even a couple of days you begin to let your mind wander and your fitness routine goes by the way side. Here are a few tips to stay motivated
  • Set a personal goal that is not tied to how much you weigh or what size your pants are.
  • Keep the health benefits in mind. Routine exercise can keep prevent many diseases.
  • Start slow and limit the time of each exercise session. Going all out for three hours at a time will not make you want to exercise the next day.
  • Visualize how you will feel not how you will look.
  • Track how much you exercise. This will help you track your ups and downs.
  • Schedule exercise as part of your daily routine.
  • Do something different every day. Ride a bike, jog, go on a long walk, take an exercise class or lift weights.
  • Forgive yourself if you miss a day every now and then. But don't let a day or two turn into a month or two.
  • Try something new to ward off boredom. Start a walking group, try new exercises or routines, join a team sport or completely revamp your routine.
  • If your a multi-tasker that needs constant distraction read a fitness magazine or book, listen to music or watch television while you work out.
  • Buying a new exercise DVD or download an app that sends you an exercise of the day.
  • Walk your dog daily. They need just as much exercise as you do.
