If your like most people you find it challenging to stick to a fitness routine. After a month, a week or even a couple of days you begin to let your mind wander and your fitness routine goes by the way side. Here are a few tips to stay motivated
Set a personal goal that is not tied to how much you weigh or what size your pants are.
Keep the health benefits in mind. Routine exercise can keep prevent many diseases.
Start slow and limit the time of each exercise session. Going all out for three hours at a time will not make you want to exercise the next day.
Visualize how you will feel not how you will look.
Track how much you exercise. This will help you track your ups and downs.
Schedule exercise as part of your daily routine.
Do something different every day. Ride a bike, jog, go on a long walk, take an exercise class or lift weights.
Forgive yourself if you miss a day every now and then. But don't let a day or two turn into a month or two.
Try something new to ward off boredom. Start a walking group, try new exercises or routines, join a team sport or completely revamp your routine.
If your a multi-tasker that needs constant distraction read a fitness magazine or book, listen to music or watch television while you work out.
Buying a new exercise DVD or download an app that sends you an exercise of the day.
Walk your dog daily. They need just as much exercise as you do.
